August 14, 2010

This is day 2 for my Blog. I don't think I will be cooking today. We have some friends coming from South Florida and Wade wants to go out for fish tacos with them. So I think we will be in Destin Harbor tonight somewhere.

I am getting the house ready to leave Wade home alone with the pups and kitty while I go to Auburn Monday.  Lee Ann, my youngest daughter is starting back to school!!!!!  Go Girl Go........I am more excited than she is I think! She has been out of school a little over 2 years. She is starting her Sr. studies in Horticulture and I am so Happy and proud of her! Two more falls, and winters to go.
I love Auburn. It's beautiful, but very hot in August. I hope to go to the Art Museum one afternoon. I have never been there. I will post some pictures of that and show you guys where Lee Ann will be going to school. After a few days of cleaning and organizing Lee Lee I am going on up to Rabun Gap for the weekend. My BFF since 5th grade may come with me. I hope so. If not I'll be up there on my own and I can write some and go for walks and drives and work on this book.

Tomorrow, Sunday the 15th we are going to the beach for a free concert with Lynard Skynard. The concert is in FWB at the boardwalk.  We didn't go to the last one there a few weeks ago but heard it was really good. I think it was The Doobies, playing then.  Jimmy Buffett and Zack Brown Band were in Gulf Shores the next week. We watched it on T.V. I had tears in my eyes at the end when they sang the song about the gulf.  Brother Stephanie was right I am a Tree Hugger, and proud of it!!!

I haven't been seeing any brown pelicans in the harbor. I am looking for them but they haven't been there like they usually are.  There were hundreds this spring and blue herons too. Maybe they went over to the East side of the Gulf. But I'm afraid they are gone for now. So sad. I'll keep looking for them and let you know who I see. At least we are not smelling oil any more. There is oil washing up in Gulf Shores the past few days. It's been raining alot and I haven't been down to the water this week. Going now to check it out.
Later........have a good weekend.     :-)
